APPLE CIDER VINEGAR BENEFITS

Apple Cider Vinegar? Yes, Apple Cider Vinegar. It has long been used as a natural hair care product to promote healthy hair in both men and woman. Its acidity is close to that of natural hair, it’s a good conditioner and cleaning agent and it’s also an effective germ killer.

Hair Rinse

Hair is on the mildly acidic side of the pH scale and has an ideal pH of 4.5 to 5.5, which is close to that of an apple cider vinegar rinse (pH 2.9). On the other hand, many of the hair care products we use, such as soap-based shampoos, bleaches, hair colors, and permanents are strongly alkaline. Rinsing with apple cider vinegar will help balance the pH of your hair and remove the buildup that can result from the use of these styling products and inexpensive shampoos. Rinsing will also close the numerous cuticle scales which cover and protect the surface of each hair shaft. This imparts a smoother surface which reflects more light and as a result leaves your hair shinier, smoother and easier to manage.

Improve Porosity

Porosity is your hair’s ability to absorb and maintain moisture. Apple cider vinegar’s acidity can improve porosity by sealing the hair cuticle. As a result, hair will maintain more moisture.  Apple cider vinegar also seals the cuticle and helps lessen porosity, resulting in a smoother and flatter surface.  At the very least, look into doing a diluted ACV rinse about once a week to help.

Scalp Health

The mild acids and enzymes present in apple-cider vinegar help destroy bacteria that cause uncomfortable scalp conditions like dandruff and itchy scalp, and often hair loss and baldness. When hair follicles are clogged, bacteria creates crusty flakes on the scalp. If hair is deprived of oil, it falls out and breaks more easily, resulting in hair loss and possibly baldness. Rinsing your scalp with the apple cider vinegar and water mixture can rid you of the bacterial causes of hair loss.

For an extra strength natural hair care product, apple cider vinegar can be infused with herbs such as stinging nettle, southernwood, goosegrass, plantain and burdock root all of which help prevent dandruff on their own. Tea tree oil is another excellent natural anti-dandruff ingredient, which can be added .

Stimulate Hair Follicle Growth

Many hair authorities believe that hair loss can be caused by an unhealthy scalp. Conditions such as dandruff, psoriasis, seborrhea may be the cause or a contributing factor in baldness. Some experts tout the claim that hormones play the major role in most forms of baldness, but there is never any harm in maintaining a healthy scalp.

Unfortunately, many chemically-derived ingredients in commercial shampoos are known scalp irritants that can also damage follicles. Also, a modern diet containing refined vitamin-bereft foods can also promote unhealthy skin, resulting in dandruff and other scalp problems. An unhealthy scalp that produces excess sebum can become a breeding ground for bacteria, fungus, and yeast, all microorganisms that may also have a part in hair loss or, at the very least, that further scalp irritation. The idea of a healthy, clean scalp free of toxins and damaging hormones is the same philosophy behind Nioxin as well as many topical hair loss regimens. – http://hair.lovetoknow.com

Some people, however, prefer to keep their hair loss program naturally geared, especially since chemicals can be a contributing factor to excessive hair thinning. Therefore, it is not unusual for a natural hair treatment regimen to contain essential oils and organic, plant-derived cleansing agents.

Efficient blood circulation is paramount for strong, healthy hair. An article published in 2002 on Alive.com, states apple cider vinegar stimulates better circulation to your hair follicles. As blood circulates through your arteries, essential nutrients are carried to hair follicle cells. The more efficient circulation you have, the more nutrients reach these follicles, strengthening your roots and promoting a healthy head of hair.Apple cider vinegar can also be used as a hair rinse, providing a balanced pH to promote hair growth and scalp health. Vinegar is high in alpha-hydroxy acids, which causes the removal of skin cells from the hair follicles and the scalp. The pH of the apple cider neutralizes the scalp’s pH and removes residue left from shampoos and conditioners. Hair will be less tangled and have less frizz. Apple cider vinegar will also help heal scalp conditions such as dandruff, by correcting the scalp’s pH.
