How to Moisturize Kinky African Hair

Again, our hair is known for its dryness; but it doesn’t have to be! You can reverse that dryness and replace it with a healthy, shiney, soft, moisturized head of hair! This is how you achieve it!

WATER, WATER, WATER!

You may be thinking that water may make your hair frizzy! No, if you do it right, water is your best friend when it comes to natural hair! Make sure your water is in a spray bottle and mist the water onto your hair, whenever your are styling. You can go to youtube for some excellent D.I.Y styles!

MOISTURIZE THOSE COILS

You need an sealant to help keep in that moisture, which is going to be a moisturizer, souffle, whipped shea, or a leave n conditioner! Make sure you focus on your ends and work your way up the hair when dealing with moisturizing. The ends are the oldest part of your hair and you want to make sure you keep them nice and healthy!

OILED BUT NOT OILY!

Now you need a oil to lock in the moisture! Depending on your hair length add about an one teaspoon to one tablespoon of your selected oil (olive, jojoba, coocnut, or almond). Note: if you have thicker and longer have you may need more oil.  After misting your hair with water, coating with a moisturizer, and sealing with an oil you should be able to notice that your hair does feel, moisturized!

SIMPLE PREPARATIONS, FOR SIMPLE STYLING

Before you take off to bed, make sure that you have put some type of style into your hair. Twsit or braids/plaits are the best; they are easy and simple and less time consuming! In the morning, apply some oil to your hair, and unravel the twist or braids! Make sure that you cover the hair with a satin bonnet or scarf and not cotton.  Cotton takes the moisture out of the hair, so be sure to use Satin.
